PKI Solutions

What is PKI?

Widely used by organizations looking to protect sensitive information, PKI is the infrastructure for securing Internet-based communications. Specifically, PKI is a combination of hardware and software products, policies and procedures. Together they provide the basic security required for transacting business. As a result, users (who don’t know each other, or who are widely distributed), can communicate securely through a chain of trust.

A PKI solution should consist of:

  • Security policy
  • Certificate authority (CA)
  • Registration authority (RA)
  • Certificate distribution system
  • PKI-enabled applications

PKI helps companies transact commerce on-line with full confidence and can also be used to protect:

  • Communications between Web servers and browsers
  • E-mail
  • Electronic Data Interchange (EDI)
  • Financial transactions over the network
  • Virtual Private Networks (VPNs)
  • Mobile Internet transactions
