FourJ’s Business Development Language (BDL) is a compiler developed by a company called FourJ’s Development Tool in 1995 to address the issues of application that are character based. The main focus of FourJ’s was to give a Graphical environment to those applications that are working in character based.
The BDL technology works by compiling the existing Informix 4GL application code and transforming the new compiled code to work under the windows environment. The compiled code can be later deployed to run on Web, WAP and other clients with little modifications. The BDL technology also provides the existing application to run on different database types such as Oracle or DB2.
